Interviews of startup entrepreneurs about their current work:Edit
It’s Giang Biscan. I am passionate about the startup community. My plan with this website is to seek out early-staged startup entrepreneurs and interview them about what they are working on. The types of startup founders that I am looking to interview are those who work on:
- Internet/technology startups;
- Has a live website (although it can be in beta phase) and is starting to get traction;
- Has not raised institutional funding (although they can be in the process of raising fund).
My goal is to give early-staged startup entrepreneurs:
- more exposure;
- an opportunity to share with others what they are learning (it’s fresh);
- access to support and feedback for their work from the startup community.
Working on early staged startup is incredibly exciting, yet very challenging at the same time. You want to shout to the world about what you do and you desperately want to get the support.
The majority of startups don’t survive past their early stage. At this tender stage, the startups don’t get much support from anyone around. Families and friends don’t get you, investors are not interested yet, and the media don’t want to cover your stories.
When you get to be Google or Apple, people tried to recreate your early day stories. How about giving the early staged startups some love and help documenting that history as it is making? That’s what I am talking about.
As the Producer of Mixergy.com, I should say that this will be a complimentary site to Mixergy. Mixergy interviews focus on lessons learned from amazing entrepreneurs who have sold their companies or failed in a big way (yes fail). AsAble.com will be more about what new startups are doing today.
The format:
I am going to start with 30 min audio interview, but ultimately I would like to move to video interviews. I need to figure out a lower bandwidth alternative to Skype. If you can help guiding me with the tech side of video interviewing, I would be very appreciative.
Frequency:
- I plan to do 2 interviews per week, Sunday and Wednesday, at 8pm. When I move to video, I would love to do the interview live.
- I will be doing 4 – 5 interviews of each startup: The first interview for the entrepreneur to introduce the company and to talk about their immediate goals. Few monthly interviews after that to track the progress.
So why the 30 days?
I really want to do this, but when I first thought about it, it seems very intimidating to me. So to make it more achievable, I set out to stick to this for 30 days. I figure if I can do it for 30 days, I can do it for longer. Let’s see how I go.
Update: It still seems very intimidating… I am still trying…
